About Malta

Location: Malta lies in Southern Europe in the Mediterranean Sea and consists of three main islands (Malta, Gozo, Comino) as well as smaller islands.

Local Time: GMT +1hrs during standard time and GMT +2 hrs during Daylight Saving Time.

Language: Maltese and English are the official languages of Malta.

Visa: It is advisable that you check about visa and entry requirements before making your travel arrangements. For further infromation go to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malta.

Currency: The unit of currency is Euro and Cent. The denominations of bank notes are: EUR 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500; those of coins are Cent: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, and EUR: 1, 2


Taxi Service: Passengers can use white taxis everywhere except at bus-stops. It is recommended to inquire and agree on a fare before using a taxi. Taxis from the International Airport to any location have a fixed rate.

Bus Service: Malta’s public transport system offers wide routes to connect all Maltese Islands. Further information on: www.publictransport.com.mt.

Airport Express: There are four airport express services, X1, X2, X3 and X4

Electricity: 230 volts AC, 50 Hz; UK-type flat 3-pin rectangular plugs are used. Converters are available.

Climate: Malta has a Subtropical-Mediterranean climate. The average temperature in October is 24°C. Average rain fall in October is 70mm.

Clothing: Lightweight clothing in cottons or blends is recommended. A sweater or light jacket may be needed for cooler evenings.

Business Hours: The general working days are Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 17:30 and Saturdays from 08:00 to 13:00. Sundays closed. Banks are working from Monday to Friday.
