Dr Andres Mantilla is Petroleum Engineer from The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) with a Master's Degree in Petroleum Engineering and Doctorate in Geophysics from Standford University. He has over 25 years of experience in the petroleum Industry and is specialist in seismic reservoir characterization, petrophysics, geomorphology and geological modelling, reservoir engineering and seismic monitoring of recovery process.
Since 2013, he has been the Director of Innovation and Technology Center - ICP Ecopetrol, where he has managed to focus and strengthen research, development and promote the articulation of actors in technologial development, demostration, innovation and technology transfer initiatives.
Renato Cerqueira is Senior Research Manager and Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM Research Brazil, where he leads the Natural Resources Solutions group, aimed at advancing the ongoing digitalization of industries like as Oil & Gas, Mining and Agriculture. In the recent years, his research group has been working together with different industry partners to create AI-based technologies for data and knowledge intensive processes in subsurface exploration and oil production.
Prior to join IBM Research, Renato was professor at the Department of Informatics at PUC-Rio, and research leader at Tecgraf/PUC-Rio, where he participated and led several R&D projects with partners from industry and academia, mainly applied to Oil & Gas. During 2001, he was Visiting Researcher at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, working with Prof. Roy H. Campbell on middleware technologies for Ubiquitous Computing. He has published three books and more than 80 papers, and advised several Ph.D. and M.Sc. students. He received his Ph.D. (2000) and M.Sc. (1996) degrees in Computer Science and his Computer Engineer degree from PUC-Rio.
Carlos J. Barrios Hernández is director of the High Performance and Scientific Computing Center (SC3UIS soon Colombia Advanced Computing Center CACC), he is associate professor of the Informatics and Systems Engineering School (EISI) of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) in Colombia. At same time, Dr. Barrios Hernandez is the chair of the SCALAC (Advanced Computing Systems for Latin America and Caribbean) consortium, c--chair and co-founder of the prestigious Supercomputing and Distributed Systems Camping School (www.sc-camp.org) and co-chair of several academic conferences, workshops and outreach activities. Research interests of Dr. Barrios are advanced and scalable architectures, performance evaluation, scientific computing linking and programming models.
He participates in several projects in America and Europe. Particularly, in Oil, gas and energy, he collaborates in several projects associated with simulation and visualisation, data analytics for seismic and production, intelligent oil fields and the link between HPC and industrial needs. Its studies were in France (Doctor in Informatics and Computer Science (Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis, Nice) and Master in Applied Mathematics and Informatics (Université de Grenoble-Alpes, Grenoble)) and in Colombia (Systems Engineer, Universidad Industrial de Santander, Bucaramanga).
Francisco Ortigosa is Director of Geoscience Technology at Repsol. Francisco has dedicated more than 30 years in the petroleum industry holding several international technology positions in Repsol. He is particularly focused on the value added to the E&P Business by new technologies in the field of Geoscience, and presently related to the Digital Transformation in the E&P Business.
Francisco received the award from IEEE Spectrum for the Kaleidoscope Project as one the most innovative projects of the year and from Platts as the Commercial Technology of the year. Francisco has authored or coauthored numerous technical papers presented in International Conferences .He is also a regular key note speaker in Conferences. Francisco is affiliated with the SEG, EAGE and SPE.
Andres graduated in 1988 as geologist form the Industrial University of Santander (UIS). Received his MSc in Sedimentology in 1996 from the University of Reading (UK). He joined Ecopetrol in 1989 and has been in a variety of positions in his career, including technical and leadership responsibilities.
He is author and co-author of more than 20 international papers including publications in the AAPG, Journal of South American Earth Sciences, Bulletin of the Geological Society of London, among others.
Pedro Mário Cruz e Silva did his BSc (1995), and MSc (1998) at Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), he also did his DSc in 2004 at PUC-Rio. Worked for 15 years as Manager of Computational Geophysics Group at PUC-Rio, during this period was responsible for several Software Development and R&D projects for Geophysics with strong focus on innovation. He also finished an MBA in 2015 at Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV/RJ). Is member of the main board of The Brazilian Geophysical Society (SBGf). Currently is the Solution Architect Manager at NVIDIA responsible for all technologies in the Latin America Region.
