Exploring the Mexican hot-spot deep-water basins goes along with outstanding challenges that geoscientists and the Industry will need to solve, in order to unlock the basins hydrocarbon potential in the current degraded capital environment. After the competition to access attractive acreage, industry has now to find ways to ensure it delivers the geophysical and drilling programs successfully and in a cost-effective way. Because no stakeholder has all solutions on its own, it is believed that new initiatives across the Industry have to be developed in a collaborative mode, as demonstrated last June in Paris during the EAGE Workshop 12 “How exploration is adapting to the low price environment”.
In the same spirit, this first regional workshop aims at delivering concrete initiatives by providing a forum where all stakeholders (Mexican Authorities, Government Bodies, Agencies, Institutes, NOCs, IOCs, Operating companies, Rig and Service companies, Consultants, Professionnal Associations Universities) shall attend. The stakeholders will have the possibility to bring along their requirements and insight, share technical and procurement practices, discuss and propose adapted collaborative approaches and solutions, in order to resolve some of the Industry challenges. These challenges cover permitting and approval process, environmental and geotechnical studies optimizations, imaging of reservoirs & derisking of resources, drilling hazards identification and de-risking, pore pressure prediction, well design, procurement practices, rig and oilfield services synergies, benchmarks, etc… More generally, topics which to some extent could be handled by dedicated task-forces on a collaborative mode during the workshop and potentially after it also.
