Motivational speaker

Discovery of the glymphatic system

Speaker: Maiken Nedergaard (University of Copenhagen)

Time: 12:30 – 13:00 hrs

EAGE Community Hub - Booth N°410

In 2012, the speaker discovered a new fluid dynamic system in the
brain entitled the glymphatic system. This clearance system has
significant implications for the field of dementia, since key proteins
involved in neurodegeneration, such as amyloid-beta, are washed
out by the glymphatic system. The seminar will discuss what led to
the discoveries, the reaction in the field, and future perspectives.
