About Angola

Angola, officially the Republic of Angola is a country in Southern Africa. It is the seventh-largest country in Africa. Angola has vast mineral and petroleum reserves, and its economy is among the fastest growing in the world. Also is Angola a member state of the United Nations, OPEC, African Union



You must get a valid visa and/or work permit before you travel to Angola. The process can take a long time and you should apply several weeks

There is a lack of hotel accommodation in Luanda. It is wise to book accommodation early.



Visit your health professional at least 4 to 6 weeks before your trip to check whether you need any vaccinations of other preventive measures.
It is wise to check with a medical centre which vaccinations you will need.



In October, weather conditions in Angola make it a good trip destination. The average temperatures you'll face in October would be between 22ºC
and 26ºC, with exceptional possible peaks as low as 18ºC and high as 32ºC as observed in previous years.

Officially 220V 50Hz. Outlets are the European standard CEE-7/7 "Schukostecker" or "Schuko" or the compatible, but non-grounded, CEE-7/16 "Europlug" types. Generally speaking, US and Canadian travellers should pack an adaptor for these outlets if they plan to use North American electrical equipment in Angola.

Also, be aware of the power related problems in Angola. If you plan to rent a house, you for sure should rent a house with a generator. Power outages are quite frequent.



The official language of Angola is Portuguese. A low percentage of the local population can communicate in English. Also, due to the fact that many people migrate form neighbouring countries to Angola, it is sometimes possible to use French or Afrikaans.
