Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is known for its centuries-old architecture and a rich culture with Southeast Asian, Chinese and French influences. At its heart is the chaotic Old Quarter, where the narrow streets are roughly arranged by trade. There are many little temples, including Bach Ma, honoring a legendary horse, plus Đồng Xuân Market, selling household goods and street food..
The city has a tropical climate, specifically a tropical wet and dry climate. The rainy season usually begins in May and ends in late October while the dry season lasts from December to April.
While Vietnamese is the official language, English is widely spoken, especially for business purposes.
The official currency of Vietnam is the Vietnamese Dong. Based on xe.com, the exchange rate is approximately USD 1 = VND22740.
