EAGE/SEG Research Workshop 2017
Trondheim was founded by Viking King Olav Tryggvason in AD 997, and holds a special place in Norwegian culture and history. The city was the nation's first capital. The name Trondheim can be translated into 'the home of the strong and fertile ones'.
To its citizens, Trondheim has many names. It is a city of students, technology, culture, cycling and food. The 30,000 students, many of whom attend the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, leave their mark on the city and contribute to a high level of innovation and a vibrant cultural life.
The distance between Trondheim's airport Værnes and the city is only 30 km, and there are airport shuttle busses to Trondheim scheduled every 30 minutes.
