Workshop 1

Geothermal Energy: New Geological Approach
Time: 09:00 – 12:00 hrs
Location: Pavillon 2.3

Convenors:
A. Dupuy (ENSEGID)
A. Genter (ES Géothermie)
J.-F. Girard (EOST)
J.-L Auxietre (TLS Geothermics)
J.-L. Mari (IFPSchool)

Geothermal between geology and climatology, advances in engineering open new production areas. Geothermal energy which is the science that studies the internal heat of the Earth is evolving along new trends.

On a global scale it is necessary to take into account the effect of climate that regulates the thermal balance of the globe to the proximal part of the surface. New potential geothermal areas, freed from hydrogeological constraints, have recently lead to the development of the EGS (Enhanced Geothermal System)/HDR (Hot Dry Rock). These geothermal concepts that are still in the demonstration phase, could lead to consider new geological fields as potentially exploitable by geothermal energy production: i.e. "dry" crystalline medium, very deep sedimentary basin without aquifer.

Exhibition Tour

Time: 13:30 – 14:30 hrs
Meet a selection of exhibiting companies, guided by EAGE, and find out what they have in store. Students have the perfect opportunity to become familiar with them by participating in guided exhibition tours.

EAGE Geo-Quiz

Time: 15:00 – 17:00 hrs
It challenges university students to show their geoscientific knowledge and skills learned during the course of their studies. Up to 30 teams, including the winning teams of the regional Geo-Quiz battles, will be put to the test as they compete to outwit each other, striving to win fabulous prizes!

Conference Evening

Time: 19:00 - 23:00 hrs
All registered full delegates and registered family members are invited to this wonderful evening. Students interested in attending the conference evening will be subject to an additional charge.
